"A Message from Chief Richard J. Koch, Brewster Police Department"

Welcome to our web site!

Brewster is a seaside community on Cape Cod Bay with a year round population of approximately 11,000 residents. This population swells to over 35,000 from May through September.

The Police Department is located at 631 Harwich Road. The new station was completed in 2001. The Department consists of 19 sworn officers and 5 civilians. These dedicated people are committed to the preservation of public peace, investigation and prevention of crime and the delivery of a wide variety of police services in an effective and efficient manner.

The Department has a challenging responsibility to cover 22.5 square miles of land, 14 great ponds, a portion of Cape Cod Bay, the Rail Trail bicycle path, and a large amount of open space with trails including Nickerson State Park.

We practice community policing on each and every shift with a variety of programs that interact with our citizens on a regular basis. We have officers dedicated to areas such as: Elderly Affairs, “RadKids” training, Internet Safety, Child Safety Seat Checks, Bicycle patrol, Business and Neighborhood Crime Watch.

We are committed to these existing programs and developing new ones to work with the citizens of our community to identify areas of mutual concern. We believe that early intervention and education do make a difference.
