Offender Information
The Brewster Police
Department is committed to the responsibility of maintaining an
accurate record of registered sex offenders living or working
within Brewster.
To qualify as a registered sex
offender, a person must have been convicted of a sex crime and
have been classified by the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry
Board (SORB).
Any Registered level 3
sex offender living or working in the town of Brewster
will have his or her photograph, a list of addresses and
offenses committed posted on this website. The information
will also be dispersed to schools and public buildings
throughout the Town of
Brewster.
The SORB has determined that Level 3 sex offenders are at a high
risk and danger to re-offend and that the degree of
dangerousness posed to the public is such that a substantial
public safety interest is served by active community
notification.
The public also can
view
all
Level 3 sex offenders in Massachusetts,
as well as download forms, and have questions answered on the
Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry boards' website at
www.mass.gov/sorb
Any Registered Level 2
sex offender living or working in the Town of Brewster
will have his or her photograph, as well as a list of addresses,
and offenses committed on record at the Police department. This
information will only be disseminated to persons who:

Are 18 years of age or older
-
Appears in person at the police dept.
and presents proper identification

States he/she requests sex offender information for his/her
protection, the protection of a child under the age of 18,
or for the protection of another person for whom said
inquirer has a responsibility, care and custody, and
-
Completes and signs a record of inquiry on the proscribed
form

Sex Offender Registry information shall not be used to commit a
crime or to engage in illegal discrimination or harassment of an
offender. Any person who uses information disclosed pursuant to
MGL c. 6 s. 178C-178P for such purposes shall be punished by not
more than two and one-half years in a house of correction or by
a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1000) or both
(MGL c. 6 s. 178N). In addition , any person who uses registry
information to threaten to commit a crime may be punished by a
fine of not more than one-hundred dollars ($100) or by
imprisonment for not more than six (6) months (MGL c. 275 s. 4).
